How to embed Facebook post to your Olitt website

Facebook posts are messages that are sent on special delivery. Usually, the user writes content on their page or wall and the message is visible to the followers. Sharing these posts may help you expand your business territory or reach a greater target group.

Facebook provides an API that you can plug into the specific posts and share them to your audience such as on a website. Olitt website includes Facebook post plugin that simplifies the integration. To activate this service, you are required to obtain the post URL and dimension for the post from Facebook and create an HTML container element with id to display this post.

Step 1: obtain the post URL and dimension.

It’s good to note that the post doesn’t have to be necessarily yours. This can be a page from a news outlet you are following or company page.

Log in to your Facebook page and find the page you wish to display on your site.  Open the more options at the top right of the post. Select embed from the menu.

This will open a developer page. Copy the post Url and width on code generator section as shown below.

Step 2: Create a container element with id

Open a new tab on your browser and log in to your Olitt account.

Once you log in to your account, select websites to enter “my websites” page. Hover the mouse cursor over the templates and select the edit template.

You can create the HTML div element or use already defined div element in your template. Scroll down and click on the section you wish to display the Facebook post. Upon the context menu that pops up, click on the edit icon.

The id is the HTML tag attribute that uniquely identifies the element with the document/page. Add the id on the container element selected above.

Save the changes and return to “my website” page.

Step3: activate plugin

From the “my website” page, click the more (…) options and select plugins.

From the list that appears, scroll down and locate “Facebook post embedding”.  Click on Expand.

Add the id element you created above, the post URL and width as shown below.

You can replace the link and width with yours.

Click on the “connect” button and now you should be able to see “connected” green text.

You can verify the integration by refreshing your website. If you completed the above steps successfully, you should be able to see the Your Facebook post on a section where you added the container Id.
